Hotel Xaguate

For a small island like Fogo, Hotel Xaguate is a relatively large hotel ideal for families and groups.

Located on a small headland just on the outskirts of the town of Sao Filipe, this location is peaceful, yet it’s just a short stroll down to the main square.

It has all the facilities you might expect from a hotel locally rated as a 4-star. As well as a pleasant pool area with sun terrace, the hotel offers massage (on request), has a bar and free WiFi.

There is also a 24-hour reception. Breakfast is continental style buffet in the restaurant room. At present the restaurant isn’t operating in the evenings but there are good options a short way away in town, or you can ask reception to arrange a taxi which should be about £1 each way.

A short walk will take you down to the attractive town of São Filipe, with its traditional, colonial-era sobrado architecture, local bars, restaurants, a museum and the lovely dark-sanded beach front.
