Overview

The islands of Cape Verde have an interesting range of endemic species offering some rare birdwatching opportunities.

There are many seabirds, such as petrels, frigate birds, and sheerwaters. Inland you might see buzzards, the Cape Verde warbler, Falcons, grey-headed Kingfishers, and Osprey.

Whether you go independently or with a guide, it’s best to head to the most vegetated islands for the best bird watching experiences. Sao Nicolao, Santo Antao, and Santiago are particularly good, due to their lush green valleys. However, there are bird watching opportunities throughout all of the islands.

If you’re interest in including a bird watching experience in your holiday, let us know and we’ll advice you on the best places to visit.
