Overview
Our self-guided walking trips in Cape Verde are easily combined with the guided walks we offer.
Like these three walking holidays on the islands of Santiago, Fogo, and Santo Antão. The paths on the islands are not waymarked and finding your way independently can be difficult, which is why we only recommend certain self-guided routes.
The most spectacular of them all is the coastal walk from Cruzinha to Ponta do Sol on Santo Antão. Starting off in the small fishing village of Cruzinha you follow the dramatic coastal path which contours around to the pretty and picturesque mountain village of Fontainhas until you reach the final destination of Ponta do Sol – the old capital of Santo Antão.
This moderate walk takes five to six hours and is popular with families, groups and couples. En route, there are plenty of coves and beaches to rest and relax (and to eat your packed lunch).
