Overview
If you’re looking to go surfing in Cape Verde, we can make the arrangements for you.
Most people heading to Cape Verde to enjoy the surf will generally head to Santa Maria Beach on Sal. Whether you’re looking to hire a board, enjoy a beginners surfing lesson, or book yourself onto a week-long surfing holiday, Sal is a great place to start.
With clear turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and perfect conditions, Sal is a real paradise for watersports enthusiasts. We offer tailor-made holidays to Cape Verde, so can arrange a holiday that is solely focussed on surfing, or can include it as an activity alongside a range of other excursions.
All the main surf spots are within 5-15 minutes drive of the centre on the stunning Bay of Santa Maria. If you are a non-surfer and travelling with keen surfers, then there are loungers outside the surf-centre, right on the beach. There is also a restaurant and beach bar nearby, so you can kick back and relax after riding those turquoise waves.
Beginners can enjoy surfing year-round. More experienced surfers should visit between November and March. This is when the waves are bigger and the swell is more consistent.
